Bullying is an act of aggressive behaviour which involves perpetrators bothering or threatening their victim through any means.’
Whenever we see somebody getting bullied by others verbally, physically or socially we always stand by them but when it comes to cyber bullying we act differently.
Cyber bulling, unfortunately isn’t considered to be an important issue to be acknowledged by many people. Bullies continued to harass, abuse and threaten netizens through electronic means. What people don’t realize is that such bullying affects the victim’s mind and health. They lose confidence and start to underestimate themselves in various ways. Insecurity and Inferiority complex takes over their minds. There is also a high risk of anxiety and depressions among teenagers who are victims of cyber harassment.
In this pandemic period, with the increase in our screen time on digital devices, sadly cyber bullying has also increased. So, its high time we speak up, be an advocate and raise this issue. We should offer our support to the victims of such online bullying instead of just being a bystander. We should be well informed, media literate and should be critically evaluating issues. Our opinions should always be unbiased and inoffensive. We should never enter anybody’s personal space through electronic or any other means.
We should always “think before we type.”
“So young people listen to me
Be the change you want to see
Cyberspace would be bully free
If we unite to spread positivity”
